Special For Siwon: March 2015

I just understand the definition of “handsome as a picture” when I met Super Junior’s Choi Siwon in person. Lisa team can’t help but screaming and taking the question note out with shaking hand. Siwon is absolutely handsome. We got to know him better as we interviewed him exclusively.

LISA : You have been to Thailand several times. How many are they?

SIWON : I can’t remember. I have tons of fans. I also had many activities here. Sadly that I can only stayed in the hotel and had no chance to chat with people outside my field of work. My friend said Thai beach is very beautiful. But when I came here, I always had works to do. If I have time, I will definitely go on vacation here.

LISA : you posted “I’m taken” on your instagram, made ELF panic and thought that you’re getting married. Is it true that you’re getting married?

SIWON: I’m just teasing my fans. I want to surprise them (about the joke), I didn’t think that there’ll be feedback like that. I am really sorry. It like when I post “follow me”, I didn’t mean anyone should fly to Seoul. It’s a joke. I am not getting married. I’m very busy man. Anyone who follows my news would know. Like this trip, it’s promotion for Dragon Blade. I’ve been to Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and Thailand. I will go back to Seoul tomorrow. I don’t date because of my personal reason. It isn’t I’m picky or anything. Most girls hate it when it comes to a man who flies to 10 countries in only 9 days. I travel a lot and work really hard. So I think when girls meet guys like that, they don't want anything to do with them. They think if I have so little time, I had better not date. No girl like guy who has no time for them.

“In entertainment industry, you must be capable of making decisions whether it’s true or false. Happiness and joy are different things. I always think all comment - both good and bad – aren’t important, they will pass. The important thing is you learn to be happy and thankful for everything you receive.”

LISA : You met Jackie Chan for the first time at Running man?

SIWON : No. When we met in that TV program, we are friends already. I met Jackie Chan for the first time in 2009 when he attended a charity event in Korea. But I can’t remember the province because it has been a long time. After that, if there’s charity event anywhere, we always go together like friends. He is my mentor in this industry, who takes care and gives good advices to me. I’m very thankful.

LISA : In Dragon Blade, your role was a suspicious person. It was such a hard role. How did you do that?

SIWON : Besides the 10 kg armor suit, I have to learn from my seniors. My role is Yin Po, a soldier who protects the borders and whose men's loyalty towards him is questionable. I need to learn how to speak Chinese. I need to speak fluently. My pronunciation needs to be right. Chinese language is very difficult. I learnt from Jackie Chan for a really long time. He always devoted himself to teach me, both language and acting. The expression is important too because my character is good at hiding his feeling. I need to act as treacherous person which is so different from me. I always speak my mind. You can read me easily.

LISA : How much are you proud of this Hollywood movie?

SIWON: I’m very proud that I can work with excellent director like Daniel Lee and 3 Hollywood legends; John Cusack who has been great actor since I were kid, Adrian Brody who already got an Oscar and he’s also a very nice guy, And Jackie Chan, an international star who is my mentor. Jackie always advises me about acting. He’s a big brother in this industry. I like the script of this movie very much so I accept to play immediately. Many people said I’m so crazy about it. I tell my friends and ELF to watch this movie all the time. I’m happy while I was working on this movie and also with my big brother Jackie Chan.

LISA : Who is your idol?

SIWON : In movie industry, it’s my 3 seniors of Dragon Blade. They’re great actors and I had opportunity to work with them and experience the real them. Jackie Chan always advises me all along movie shooting. Is he my idol? Yes, he is and he’s also my big brother.

LISA : There’re new idol all the time. How can you maintain popularity?

SIWON : Super Junior is a very hard working group. The members always think what we can do to repay the love of the fans. We won’t think we want these we want that but think what we will give to the audiences. I think our fans can feel our love. Every concert we carefully prepare and do our homework. We never think we must look good all the time. We need to adapt according to the theme. For chatting part in concert, we need to know news of that country and what sentence they will like, to show that we care about them. I like Thai beer and Thai snack. Thailand has many delicious snack but I don’t want to say the name. My fans will be surprise, just say I like many of it.

LISA : What do you want to do in the future?

SIWON : I’d like to try new things, movie and drama with good messages to audiences, to instill good moral traits. This kind of work is worthwhile and people will remember it for a long time.

LISA : What is your plan for the future?

SIWON : I don’t think about having family, only think about work. There are many things I want to do. What I really want to try like now, is “independent film”, movie that I can insert my idea. I want to work behind the scene too. I will have many solo works like this. But I never forget that I am Super Junior. We’ll keep working with our album and Super Show. In future, there may be a movie shooting in Thailand or Thai lead actress. I’d like everyone to watch it. Now I’m checking the script from both movie and drama. I didn’t confirm anything or start shooting anything so I can’t tell now. We are also preparing our album.

LISA : Anything for Thai fans.

SIWON : I’m very thankful for all your love. I feel lucky and happy. Because I think I always have friends on my side to love and support me. I’d like everyone to always love and support me. Please look forward to my works. Thank you.

LISA : Before you started shooting ‘Oh! My lady’, you lose 8k. How did you do it?

SIWON : My secret is ‘not eat’ and run like crazy. I also do aerobic dance 3 hours a day. At that time, there’re a trainer helped me controlled my weight seriously. It’s the toughest time in my life, but I got the expected result on time. My weight decreased from 78 kg to 70 kg. Actually I don’t like working out. I need to work out when my career needs to standing in front of many people and there’re always tons of cameras points at me. I think people will want to see me in my best.

LISA : 5 years ago in ‘Star King’, you challenged by a fan to change clothes for 60 times. How can you do it?

SIWON : It’s about anticipated. If anybody challenges me, I can’t help but accept it. I need to can do it good and perfect so they won’t disappoint.

LISA : You always truly dedicate yourself for doing everything. Is it including love?

SIWON : Of course. I dedicate myself to love. I even asked CEO ‘is it okay if I marry?’. My boss was shock and said ‘Yes. You can marry but are you sure you want to marry at this time?’ I said to him amusingly ‘Yes. But I didn’t meet my bride, yet.’ And we laugh together.

LISA : Your definition of love is dedication, right?

SIWON : When we die, we go to heaven or hell. You are only born once. You must fulfill it with love so you can live happy. I just hope I can sacrifice everything for live like God sacrifice for living on earth. Bible says ‘love wins even the evil’.

LISA : You’re working on Super Junior concert, drama and movie. Is it difficult to adjust?

SIWON : It’s about focus. Series and drama need a long time to shot. Sometimes I feel like I’m in dilemma for such a crazy schedule. But it’s the road I choose to do many things at the same time. So I shouldn’t complain, right. I should stay quiet. (Laugh)

LISA : Super Junior is the first group to have sub unit. What’s your secret?

SIWON : Our fans can feel and get inspiration from watching our video. It means our team has much positive energy on stage. Every member support and compete each other so our works come out better. I don’t know when it starts. Obstacles make us stronger and we courage each other.

LISA : In Super Junior, you are the most handsome and many new idols look up to you.

SIWON : I’m very thankful to my friends who always tell everyone that. In Asia there’re many talented actor/actress. I always think many people have watching me. It makes me stop to think and not stuff my mouth with food in the middle of the night when I’m hungry. (Laugh) When I started working with Super Junior, I used to think I will be just some well-known face. Times pass, I’m working as Super Junior for a while. I realize that life’s goal is much more than that. You must dare to dream and follow it. Don’t give up too easily so you will have lot of vitality.

LISA : 10 years ago, had you ever thought that you will be this popular?

SIWON : When I started to get famous, I kept thinking that the world revolves around us. When I get more experiences, now I think Choi Siwon is living for Super Junior instead. It’s me who live to work for the fans and for the love of my family.

His inspiration “I heard that Jackie Chan known Thai fans for 30 years. I believe I can be like that for Thai ELF. Please love me for really lonng time, don’t cheat me. I and Super Junior will try to produce works for everyone. We will not disappoint Thai fans.”
